Protest: Egbema, Gbaramatu Youths Apologizes To EGCDF

The youths of Egbema and Gbaramatu kingdoms in Warri North and South West Local Government Areas of Delta state respectively, who recently protested to the authorities of Egbema and Gbaramatu Communities Development Foundation, EGCDF, have apologized with promises to partner the foundation for the overall development of the host communities.

The youths who made the apology during a meeting between the executives of EGCDF, representatives of the youths and stakeholders, admitted that the protest was misdirected as the EGCDF was already delivering on its mandate.

Comrade Shedrack Onitsha, one of the leaders and others who spoke on behalf of the youths, promised to always consult with the leadership of the foundation since the management of the EGCDF is always available and ready to dialogue with them.

Earlier, Ambassador Jude Ebitimi Ukori, Chairman of Egbema and Gbaramatu Communities Development Foundation frowned at the choice of words and demands in the communiqué released by the youths

He stated that there was no way a bloc could be created for the youth groups or associations since the foundation focuses on oil and gas host communities.

He revealed that majority of members of the EGCDF management committee are made up of youths and most of the jobs, scholarships and programmes are mainly for the youths.

He however promised to liaise with his co-executive members to see how a committee can be created in the EGCDF management to better cater for the youths.

Chiefs Keston Pondi, Sheriff Mulade and others who spoke during the meeting advises the youths to fashion out ways how the major sponsor of the EGCDF can increase the yearly budget and also prevail on government and other interventionist agencies to assist the EGCDF for optimum and better output.
