Delta Central APC Chairman, Chief Barr. Bodjor Adelabu, has said that the All Progressive Congress (APC) will give the ruling party in the state Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) a good fight at the scheduled March 6, local government elections.
Chief Barr. Bodjor Adelabu while addressing newsmen at the flag off campaign of the party at Ughelli South Local Government Area, expressed optimism that the party would be a force to be reckoned with come March 6, 2021
According to him “Ughelli South is a very wide local government we have both riverine and inland but as you can see the whole place is agog that shows commitment from members of the party they have travelled far and near for the flag off. It shows that everybody is rearing to go and from the activities of our candidates you can see the level of seriousness and preparedness in them so we are going to give the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) a good fight and at the end of the day victory will be ours.”
Responding to the story being peddled about that results will be written to favour PDP he said “we have an adage in our Urhobo Nation that because somebody will die of a terminal disease does not mean you will not administer drugs be that as it may I can assure you that technology has changed things. With technology we will make sure that the election is free and fair and every voted accounted for.
“I have spoken to the people I have told them that everybody has to show more commitment. It is a collective responsibility for all of us it is not just the work of the chairman, vice chairman and councilors to galvanize and mobilize the people it is for every member of APC it is our collective responsibility and we will do everything humanly possible to give them all the support they require.”
On his part Chairman APC Ughelli South, Collins .I. Mukoro stated that the party is fully ready for the March 6 elections, “the elections are coming and APC cannot be left behind it is our party. We are driving the party and our presence must be felt in all the nooks and crannies of the local government. APC is fully ready for the March 6 elections. Our registration and revalidation exercise is also coming up shortly within the week so this is an opportunity for us to sensitize our followers and also inform them about the elections ahead.
“DISEC has come out with their time table and we are ready to follow it to the end whether results will be written or not we must showcase APC if we are oppressed we will go to the courts to seek redress but that we are not going to participate that is a wrong idea. There is no time that there will be an election that these sorts of distractions will not emanate from the opposition camp but this time around we choose to ignore them and focus on grass root mobilization.”
Barr. Innocent Ejedegba, APC Chairmanship candidate Ughelli South appealed to the electorates to come out and vote and defend their vote, “you can see that the party is gathered here today the reason being that we want to take over the local government in Ughelli South and we are ready for it.
“We have worked on the grass root and you can see that the grassroot are for us we are very sure and confident that we are winning this election come March 6. APC is strong on ground in Ughelli South we have produced house of assembly members before and recently senator and house of representative member so we are very confident that this election we are going to sail through.
“from our discussions so far the only glitch is that the people are saying that the PDP usually write results that even if we win we will not be declared winners, that DISEC write results in favour of PDP but I have given the people the assurance that the stories being peddled about is a device, lies that PDP tells so that they do not come out to vote and defend their vote, your vote is your right therefore go and cast it and stand by it because as a candidate I will make sure that our mandate is not stolen. “ he said
Highlight of the event which was attended by top politicians from the area, was the presentation of party brooms to the chairman, vice chairman and councillorship candidates.
