Jude Ogbimi, former Senior Special Assistant to Delta State Governor on Political Matters, has emerged as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) State House of Assembly bye election for Isoko North constituency.
At the party’s primary election held recently at Ozoro, Ogbimi who had no opposition, was declared winner by the Returning Officer, Dr Tony Aziegbeni, having polled 139 out of 147 accredited delegates’ votes with three “no” votes, while five votes were invalid.
Addressing newsmen shortly after being declared winner, Mr Jude Ogbimi promised nothing but positive and indeed impressive performance as a legislator.
According to him “if I am elected I will work with the agenda of our Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa to help deliver the promises he made to Deltans I will try my best to make sure that what is due my constituency always gets to my constituency. I will make sure that they get the dividends of democracy.
“My desire to represent Isoko North constituency at the Delta State House of Assembly, is certainly not for the glory that comes with such dignified position, but my passion to turn things around for the highly industrious people of Isoko North. I intend to create employment opportunities for the teeming youths through creative engagements.
“I am a man of few words but my plans for Isoko North Constituency are grand I therefore pray that God will give me the strength and wisdom to handle the affairs within the confines of my office properly.” He said
The bye election is meant for the replacement of the departed member representing the constituency, Mr. Tim Owhefere, who until his untimely death on January 27, 2021, was the Majority Leader of the House of Assembly.
