The people of Eyara Community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, has resolved to throw their weight behind the candidature of Prince Teminor Anagbo Oghenekevwe, vying for Delta State House of Assembly, Ughelli South Constituency under the platform of Social Democratic Party (SDP).
Indigenes of the community disclosed this to newsmen recently when Prince Teminor Anagbo Oghenekevwe declared his intentions of representing the good people of Ughelli South Constituency at Delta State House of Assembly to his people.
Speaking at the meeting, Ibrahim Idila, President General of Eyara Community, said Prince Teminor Anagbo Oghenekevwe, a bona-fide son of Eyara Community had earned the admiration and trust of his people, due to his people-oriented programmes and initiatives that are capable of turning the fortunes of all constituents of Ughelli South Local Government around.
According to him, “Among all the candidates on the ballot in this forthcoming election, he is the only one who will project and protect our interest not just because he is our son, but because he has a lot of investment within Ughelli South, and had seen the hell people go through just to eke out a living.
“This is the first time, we are having an indigene of Eyara in the race and we have resolved wholeheartedly to support and vote for him and not party. We don’t have roads , no secondary school and we are very sure that, he will represent us effectively because being a grassroot politician and also a son of Eyara who is well abreast with the yearnings of his constituents. We have no doubt that, if he is given the mandate, his term in office will benefit us more in the areas of effective representation and legislature.”
Elder Amos Egare and Elder Super said that they must support their own first. “nobody contesting from this community will fail. We will support our brother who is an indigene first. We cannot support an outsider and leave our brother, no, every member of the community that is eligible to vote will support him . And i know one hundred percent that If he gets there he will remember home because home is where his wife, house, and businesses are.
“Our teeming idle teenagers needs school, business owners and artisans need electricity, our pregnant women need a fully equipped health centres, all this Teminor has assured would be his number one priority.
Earlier on, Prince Teminor Anagbo Oghenekevwe, who entertained community leaders, elders, women and youths to a lavish reception in Eyara community town hall said, his determination to give his constituents effective representation prompted him into the race.
In his words; “I want the people of Ughelli South to know that their plight is my plight. My mission is to give a formidable representation for the good people of Ughelli South at the State Assembly with a view to attracting developmental projects, promoting youth empowerment, reducing crime and guaranteeing adequate human and capital development in the constituency.
“It is very important for the people of Ughelli South and Deltans who are supporting SDP to get their PVC’S In order to change the narrative come 2023. As a political party our candidates first agenda is on how to promote development around the communities in Delta state. We are ready to work, just send us and you will not disappoint you.”
In his address, Ughelli South Social Democratic Party Chairman, Pastor Osiki-Nyusi Amos, said he is proud of the calibre of candidates representing the party in the forthcoming general elections. “We are on consultation tour. I am taking round my candidate for house of Assembly to canvass for support. We are telling people about his vision for them.
“Eyara community is his home town we really need to tell his people that their son is going to be on the ballot so they will all follow the train and endorse his candidature. We have gone to his small and extended family, we have consulted the president general and executive, the elders, women and the youths and they have assured us that this time around they are not going to vote for party but they are going to vote the best person.The response of the people is amazing, they have accepted us and have promised us that SDP will get 100 percent vote in Ughelli South. We are one hundred percent sure that the vote of Eyara, ward 2 is going to be 95 percent for Teminor.
