The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, has described the demise of Chief (Sir) Tom Amioku as a big blow, saying he has lost a fine politician and an astute leader.
Rt Hon Oborevwori said that the death of Chief Amioku on Saturday, June 13, 2020 was devastating and heart breaking.
In a Press Statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Dennis Otu, the Speaker said that the death of Chief Amioku who was a member of Chief James Onanefe Ibori Transition Committee in 1999 before he was subsequently appointed as Civil Commissioner in the administration of Chief James Onanefe Ibori led administration firstly from 1999-2003 and again from 2003 to 2007, was a huge loss.
“I am so devastated, heart broken and so pained inside me at the moment because a very nice politician and an astute leader from our great Okpe Kingdom who equally served as the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Central Senatorial District of the State, has passed away at a very critical time of our lives”, he said.
The Speaker added that the death of Chief Amioku who represented Delta State on the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission ( NDDC ) and also served as Chairman Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency; “Is very hard to believe that a gentle politician and one of our leaders we held in high esteemed has answered the final call. The news of the demise of Chief (Sir ) Tom Amioku came to me today as a big surprise. I never knew that so soon, l will write this about a nice and a wonderful leader of our time. It is very painful, but it is well as we cannot question God”.
“My heart is heavy and I pray that God should see all of us through this painful moment. My heart goes out to the family of our leader of inestimable value. May God grant his soul eternal rest and give all those he left behind the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss”, the Speaker said.
