Children of late Chief Harrison Jefia has petitioned the Inspector General of Police over alleged attempt by Mr. Joseph Jefia to criminally sell the residence of the notable politician which was inherited by his senior son, Mr. Godwin Edemirukai Jefia.

In a petition by Mrs. Esther Edemirukai Jefia (wife), Moses Edemirukai Jefia (son) and Gladys Odiase Jefia (sister) and signed by their solicitor, S. O Obasuyi Esq. stated that Mr. Godwin Edemirukai Jefia, their husband, father and brother respectively, inherited his father’s (late Chief Harrison Jefia) house as the senior son after he successfully buried him 17 years ago.

They reiterated in the petition titled: ‘threat to life, criminal trespass and conduct to cause breach of peace’, that Mr. Godwin Edemirukai Jefia inherited the property in line with customary laws and had live therein peacefully with his family without hindrance from anybody.

According to the petition, “but upon his demise few years ago, one Mr. Joseph Jefia, his half brother has been scheming to eject his family from the house with a view to sell it.

“He has been preventing and harassing his clients (Mrs. Esther Edemirukai Jefia, Mr. Moses Edemirukai Jefia and Gladys Odiase-Jefia) that he will quit them and sell the house and nothing will happen because of his connections in high places”.

They noted in the petition that few weeks ago, he allegedly went to the premises with thugs to carry out his threat but for the intervention of the family. “Since then, he has been disturbing ongoing construction work in the premises by our client by trying to frighten the workers away and has also stopped them from bringing in materials for renovation”, it added.

While urging the Inspector General of Police to use his good offices to intervene before things get out of hand, the petitioners said they now live in fear and encounter strange faces in their premises.
