The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori has tasked youths to strive to attain a reasonable level of education for their advancement in life.
Rt Hon Oborevwori who was Guest Speaker at a Youth Programme organised by Winners Chapel, Osubi, Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State, with the theme; “Capacity Development”, stressed that education is a great key in one’s life.
In his words; “As youths, you must strive to attain a reasonable level of education to be competitive because it empowers you for advancement. You can acquire everything in this world, wealth will come and go, but not the education that you have acquired and so always know that Education is a great key in your life”.
“This is a very special moment for me. It is special because it is a platform for reasonable conversation with our knowledgeable, God-fearing and high-flying youths of Winners Chapel, Osubi, Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State”, he said.
The Speaker also said; “For reasons best known to the Church, I have been asked to speak on Capacity Development , using my personal testimonies as an anchor and I must commend the Church for putting this programme together. Permit me to commend the Resident Pastor, Pastor Eddie Adeoye and the Church Elders for their support for this programme. Let me also thank the participating Youths of this programme. I say thank you all”.
He explained that; “Capacity building or capacity development is the process by which individuals and organizations obtain, improve, and retain the skills, knowledge, tools, equipment, and other resources needed to do their jobs competently. It allows individuals and organizations to perform at a greater capacity. Capacity building” and “Capacity development” are often used interchangeably”
“Capacity Development takes rigorous and painstaking process because it can take you to the top of your calling. But while capacity takes you to the top, diligence, honesty, obedience, faith and hard work will keep you at the top. The Bible says that study hard and prove yourself. In essence, education is key in capacity building or development”, he stated.
Rt Hon Oborevwori advised the youths to pay special attention to four key areas in life, listing them as; The intellectual, Social Development, Spiritual Development and Physical.
According to him; “For the development of the human mind , parents must provide good education for their children and guide them in their ways of life. Children should be trained to get along with their peers. Youths tend to be self-centred if they are not taught to share and to be concerned for others. Youths should know that Christianity is the most important thing in life. Keep your children pure and to be born again”.
“In Proverbs 16:16 saith How much better to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is to be chosen rather than Silver. In this scripture, the Bible also noted that education is more valueable than material things. With the right mixed of capacity and passion, you are ready for accelerated development. For the avoidance of doubt, Youth is the time when one is young. A time between childhood and aldulthood. The glory of a young man is his capacity to develop himself. In the Book of Luke 2:52, And Jesus Christ increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man”, he said.
The Speaker who took out time to share his personal experience when he was growing up, encouraged the youths to work hard in order to get to the top, saying life is not a bed of roses.
He said; “I am a living testimony of the power of God. Life is not a bed of roses. You must work hard and remain focused in all that you do in order to get to your desired destination. Getting to where I am today was not a tea party. I have always worked very hard and it has paid off and so believe in yourself and work to attain your goals. I want you to have this at the back of your mind that the more you work harder and proud of the work you do, the better equipped you will be to overcome the many obstacles that may spring up on your path to success”.
He added; “If you are passionate enough, you can deliver excellence consistently. Be ambitious enough to keep pushing the boundaries of your achievements. Anything good and legitimate your hands find to do, do it with all your energy”.
The Speaker said; “Let me conclude by declaring that you are born without wings to fly and also leave you with these motivational words from a Legend Song Writer in one of his songs titled “Touch Your Dreams”. Have you ever seen a dream walking? Have you ever heard a dream talking? You are the Master of your dreams. You are holding the key to your dreams, don’t hesitate to grab the chance before it is too late, so reach out to touch your dreams”.
Earlier, the Resident Pastor, Pastor Eddie Adeoye, while welcoming the Speaker, expressed gratitude to him for finding time to attend the Programme as the Guest Speaker despite his tight schedule.
