Ovrode community in Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, was agog on Wednesday over the nomination of their son, Dr Joseph Onajaeme, as Commissioner designate.
The community indigenes who trooped out enmasse with musical instruments dancing from the beginning of the community to the end, commended the State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori over the nomination.
Speaking with newsmen a son of the community, Mr. Kennedy Ezo, said, “We are indeed elated today because God has answered our prayers.
“No Ovrode community indigene has tasted Government major Appointment since 1999 till date. That is why, you see that we are all rejoicing today. Because we have been remember by God today.”
On his part, Hon Sunday Efeh said; “Over the years, Ovrode has been marginalised in terms of government appointments. No Ovrode son or daughter has been appointed a Board chairman or special Adviser, not to talk of Commissioner. But today, God used Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to remember us by nominating our brother Dr Joseph Onajaeme as a Commissioner designate.
“For the first time, an indigene of Ovrode will be in the State Executive Council. This gladden our hearts hence we are celebrating. “
