The president of Urhobo Youths Leaders Association, UYLA, Chief Samuel Oghotomo has condemned the purported dissolution of the Ughelli south youths executive by Chief Godwin Okporoko without proper consultation with stakeholders as illegal and unconstitutional.
Oghotomo, President emeritus of the Ughelli south youths and the first to be democratically elected to pilot Ughelli South youths who made this known to newsmen, during a courtesy visit paid him by the Ughelli south youths executive, youths leaders and stakeholders at Okpe-Olomu in Ughelli South local government to protest the illegal dissolution held that Chief Godwin Okporoko has no moral and legal rights to dissolve Ughelli south youths executive led by Comrade Francis Akatika and 17 others.
It is illegal for Okporoko to hold a meeting of the Ughelli south youths executive without seeking an audience with critical stakeholders and the consent of the incumbent president.
“The youth executive of Ughelli South is made up of 17 members and in a situation where only seven were called to a kangaroo meeting and without notice to the president and othe ten (10) members is unconstitutional and illegal, hence it is null and void even as quorum was not formed.
While calling on the general public and the people of Ughelli south local government to disregard the purported desolation, Chief Oghotomo urged the youths executive of Ughelli south to go about their normal legal duties and responsibilities by keeping peace, security, unity and development of the local government.
“As a senior special assistant to the Delta state government on security matters, I will not allow anyone to cause confusion to bridge the existing unity, peace and security both socially and politically in the local government Area.
“I urged the youths executive to remain calm and go about their duties peacefully within the confines of the law while we ensure that the matter will be resolved amicably by the appropriate authorities.
And in the same vein, we want to advice Chief Godwin Okporoko and his cohorts to desist from instigating hatred and confusion among the peaceful youths body in the local government area to score their selfish cheep political relevance, rather than instigating violence in the area they should dwell on their integrity to prove their political relevance to their pay masters.
“We will not allow anyone to set confusion among the youths ahead of the 2023 general election. Chief Oghotomo warned.
