Delta State House of Assembly candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, for the 2023 general election in Ughelli South constituency, Prince Teminor Anagbo Oghenekevwe has promised to promote legislations that will enhance food security if elected.
Fielding questions from newsmen shortly after his official declaration, Teminor Anagbo Oghenekevwe, who hails from Eyara Community, Ughieven Kingdom, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, said he would engage the teeming unemployed youths in his constituency in commercial farming.
According to him, “My three-point agenda if elected as a law maker is to focus on promoting Agro businesses, electricity for all communities in Ughelli South and ensure the functionality of all our health centers.
“Many youths disdain subsistence farming because the financial turn out is low compared to time, energy and resources put in so my emphasis will be on commercial farming. We will try out world standard measures/practices to improve crop production and yields.I will connect farmers in Ughelli South to people who will teach them how to develop, package and market their products and also help them get their products to the markets across the state.
“I promise to train grassroots farmers in Ughelli South from time to time on modernized farming techniques.
I will also provide them with modern equipments. The aim is not just about job creation but to make Ughelli South the hub of commercial food production.
“Representing Ughelli South without impacting lives positively is not my intention. l will focus more on empowerment that will go beyond just handing out food to the needy. I want to give everyone-male and female, young and old a sense of economic opportunity and dividends of democracy.
“I understand that access to healthcare services is critical to good health. But our rural dwellers face a great deal of barriers right now, so If elected I will ensure that one of my legacies will be to ensure that our primary health care services are fully functional for all to access.
“No community in Ughelli South will be without electricity as our constituency project will improve the stability of electricity supply to every community.
“My political goal is to redefine democracy. l have the capacity to meet the yearnings of my people not only by promoting existing protocols but by introducing viable structures that will accelerate development in my constituency.” He said
