EVWRENI CRISIS: Delta CP Appeals For Calm, Condole Family Of Late Vigilante Chairman

IRKED by the renewed crisis in Evwreni Community Ughelli north local government area of Delta State, the Delta State Commissioner of police, CP Hafiz Mohammed Inuwa,mni has called for seizures of fire and calm among the warring factions in the community.

CP Inuwa while appealing for calm, urged all agrieved members of the community to shield their swords adding that the command is working round the clock to unravel the circumstances behind the death of the community Vigilante chairman just as he assured that the pepetrators will be brought to book.


The Delta State Police boss who was represented by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP Adamu Lawal Shinkafi accompanied by DPO ‘A’ Division Ughelli, CSP Kevin Zuokumor and Executive Chairman Ughelli north, Hon. Godwin Adode said the police is bent on restoring peace that has eluded the Community for a while now.

On his part, the Ughelli north council boss, who addressed the mamonth crowd at the community further assured the Evwreni people of Governor Okowa’s concerns over the cisises that has bedeviled the kingdom in the recent time.


“The State Governor, His Excellency, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa is particular about the problem in Evwreni and he has sent his condolences to the immediate family of the deceased, Evwreni kingdom and Ughelli north local government area.


“The circumstances surrounding the the death of the community vigilante chairman who was in police custody will not be swept under the carpet.

“The state government is working hard to bring lasting solution to the leadership problem confronting the community in the recent time”.


While condoling the immediate family of Okuah Tuesday, Evwreni monarch and Ughelli north council boss used the occasion to call on all Community leaders and well meaning persons in the council and Delta State to strive for the unity and development of their Communities.

Meanwhile, as at the time of filing this report, the Nigeria Army has taken over the streets of the community .

Earlier, the youths of the Community called on the Inspector General of police to release their brothers in police custody.
