***He Left Behind Enviable Legacies That Cannot Be Forgotten In A Hurry

 

The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori has expressed sadness over the demise of retired Major General John Obada, saying that Urhobo Nation has lost a great man.

In a Press Statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Dennis Otu on Sunday, the Speaker said that the news of the demise of the retired Major General who served as Aide-De-Camp to Nigeria’s first President, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe from 1964 to 1966 came to him as a big surprise.

While condoling with the Agbarho Community, the people of Ughelli North Local Government Area and the Urhobo nation over the sudden demise of the former Federal Commissioner for Works, the Speaker said that he lived a fulfilled life, but lamented that he took a final bow at 81 years when his services and wealth of experience were needed more.

The Speaker said that he was consoled that the deceased who was 2nd Vice-President of Urhobo Progress Union (UPU), the apex socio-cultural umbrella body of the Urhobo nation, and later Chairman, Board of Trustees of the union left behind enviable legacies that cannot be forgotten in a hurry.

“Today, I mourn an illustrious son of our great Urhobo Nation, an iroko tree in our land has fallen. I am really saddened at the moment over the death of our highly respected leader, but we are not in a position to question God who is the author and finisher of our faith and He only has the final say concerning our lives”, he said.

“On behalf of my family and Constituents, I send my deepest condolences to the family of our departed leader, the Urhobo nation and the people of Agbarho where he hailed from”, the Speaker added.

The Speaker prayed God to grant the deceased who retired from the Nigerian Army in 1977 and represented Delta State in the Federal Revenue Mobilisation, Allocations and Fiscal Commission, eternal rest and give all those he left behind the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
