Delta State Traffic Management Authority (DESTMA) official was recently beaten up by tricycle operators and angry mob in the city of Warri, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.
Trouble started when the tricycle operator, Mr. Ameh Ojima was intercepted by DESTMA Officials who impounded his Keke on alleged traffic offence along Ekurode Urhobo area.
His particulars were sized and asked to go down to DESTMA office to pay a huge fine, alleging that the tricycle operator committed a serious traffic offence by driving against traffic around angle park area of Warri.
An eye witness who spoke under anonymity, disclosed that the DESTMA personnel seized the key of the Keke and refused to release it despite pleading from passers-by.
The scuffle between the keke rider and the officials resulted into a fight and within a few minutes, more keke riders came to the scene and joined the scuffle.
It was a tug of war as DESTMA officials were dragging the Keke man to enter their car and follow them to their office and other Keke riders insisting that their colleague will not go anywhere. Passers-by soon joined the keke riders in the scuffle beating up one of the official in the process.
The enraged keke riders later held one of the DESTMA Official insisting that if the siezed particulars of their colleague was not released, the DESTMA officer will not go anywhere.
Police officers from B division Warri who came to the scene resolved the dispute and the particulars were released to the Keke rider without payment any money.
