Former Councillors who served in the 5th Assembly and are still members of the Peoples Democratic Party in Delta state, have congratulated the party’s candidate, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori on his resounding victory in the March 18th governorship election in the state.
The councilors, in a statement signed on their behalf by Hon. Felix Maduwe, Hon. Pere Bekes and Hon. Sunday Apah, said they did not doubt the PDP’s victory because Deltans are progressives and would always vote for the party.
The former lawmakers described Oborevwori’s landslide victory as a testament to the excellent work the PDP-led government has done in Delta state and the sterling qualities of her candidate.
The councilors added that the progressive nature of Deltans, as well as their culture of reciprocating gestures, also played a significant role in Oborevwori’s victory.
The statement reads: “we congratulate Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for emerging victorious in the March 18th gubernatorial election and returned as duly elected next governor of Delta State.
“We must note that our party, the PDP , and its government, under the able leadership of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, has delivered beyond the expectations of the Deltans, we, therefore, believe it was only natural for the citizens to reciprocate by voting for our party.
“Our confidence was further buoyed by the quality of candidates presented for the governorship poll. The combination of Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and his deputy, Sir. Monday Onyeme is what Delta needs to continue with the great work started by the outgoing governor.
“We once again congratulate the winners for running a good race and emerging victorious. We also congratulate our brother-governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, who has set a winning template for the party with good governance over the years.
“Finally, our hearty felicitations go to the people of Delta State for voting wisely for PDP, the party that will continue to deliver the good for all the citizens.”
