The Special Assistant to Comrade (Chief) Ovuozourie Macaulay on Media and Publicity, Comrade Hezekiah Ovedhe has dismissed the media report credited to Barr Fred Latimore, where he claimed that, Macaulay sponsored Propaganda against Governor Sheriff Oborevwori over the signing out of Faculties of Social Sciences and Management from Delta State University of Science and Technology, Ozoro to Orerokpe Campus.
Hezekiah in a statement he issued to journalists, described Latimore statement as baseless and lacked merit.
The statement read in part; “Ordinarily, I would have ignored you, going by your antecedents, but doing so will give you more fertile ground to stand truth on it’s head.
“It is very shameful and so pathetic that a man like Barr Fred Latimore will respond so cheaply to a sensitive issue that concerns an ethnic Nationality that he is not related to. Describing Comrade Ovuozourie Macaulay’s statement which was published in some online news medium as unsolicited interference is the height of his haughty attitude exhibited so far.
“For you to tag a response of a former Secretary to the State Government and a Leader in Isoko Nation, Delta State to an important issue that affects his ethnic nationality as “unsolicited interference” is contemptuous and this shows that you’ve being overhyped over the years. You expect Comrade Ovuozourie Macaulay to be silent just like the Isokos’ working with the Government who have remained mute for the fear of losing their appointments?
“For the records, Comrade Macaulay’s statement never attacked the Governor or his ethnic nationality hence prompting me to ask where you picked or conceived that from. Your own imagination?
“From Comrade Macaulay’s statement which was published, I still imagined at what point he used any wrong language on the Governor. “It would be appreciated if you point it out. Comrade Macaulay is aware of plans to physically attack and clamp down his properties in the state and that is what you are just laying a foundation for since your outburst is outside the discussion.
“But in all, the Comrade (Chief) Ovuozourie Macaulay, the “Okiroro of Isoko Nation” that we know, will not for fear of attack, be it physical or otherwise be quiet over a sensitive issue that affects the lives and future of our generation.”
The statement further added; “Comrade Macaulay has built and maintained very healthy relationships across the various ethnicities in the state and will remain the peace maker he is always known to be.
“His respect for authorities has never been in doubt. Nonetheless, that does not stop him from speaking the truth when there is a need to do so.”It’s been observed that some Isokos’ here are all observing table manners because they can’t bite the finger that fed them hence, they are silent over sensitive issues like this. Those who are not afraid of anything will speak for our ethic nationality.
I know, you are known for noise making. That’s what put food on your table. “Otherwise, what’s wrong in what Comrade Ovuozourie Macaulay said? He (Macaulay) even advised the State Governor to reverse the University to it’s former status of “Polytechnic” If he is so interested in putting a University in Orerokpe.
“Those Faculties and departments signed out have 60% population of the University. Moving them out is like turning the University into a glorified Secondary school without population.”
