Pursuing his ambition to seek re-election, Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has Formally announced his defection to the opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party PDP.
According to the post on his official Twitter account, Facebook page he said “I have joined the Official Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Nigeria to advance my ambition to seek re-election as Governor of Edo State.
“I, as always, remain committed to engendering good governance and sustainable development of our dear state.”

Recall that the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, only recently formally quit the ruling All Progressives Congress following decisions that evicted him from participating in the forthcoming primary election of the party.
The Peoples Democratic Party confirmed the defection in a tweet on the micro blogging site Twitter saying “The governor of Edo State, H.E Governor Obaseki has defected to our great party the Peoples Democratic Party. The defection was made this afternoon at the state secretariat of our party in Benin City, Edo State. Power To The People. “
On his part, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa Governor of Delta State welcomed the Edo State Governor in a post on his wall. He said “welcome my brother, Governor Godwin Obaseki, to our great party, the People’s Democratic Party! As you join us on this platform, we shall work to ensure that you continue the great work that you have started for the people of Edo State.”
