The immediate past Chairman of Isoko North Local Government Council, Honourable Emmanuel Egbabor has described the upgrade of the Delta State Polytechnic Ozoro to a University status, as a dream come true.
Egbabor in a statement on Friday said the prompt passing of the bill and subsequent assent by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa shows the state government was in a hurry to kick off academic activities in the new University.
He commended Governor Okowa for his sagacity, courage and political will to approve the upgrade of the polytechnic to a University of Science and Technology.
He noted that posterity will judge the governor kindly for being able to establish three new universities in the state.
The former Chairman also thanked the Speaker and members of the State House of Assembly for doing justice to the bill.
He also commended the State Commissioner for Higher Education, Professor Patrick Muoboghare; the immediate past President General of the Isoko Development Union (IDU) Chief Iduh Amadhe; the Ovie of Ozoro Kingdom HRM Anthony Ogbogbo, Ibuka I and the Isoko nation political class for their contributions to the successful establishment of the University.
He added that the establishment of the University will contribute immensely to the growth and development of the economy of Ozoro in particular and Isoko nation in general and called on the people of the area to support the new citadel of learning.
