The Member representing Ughelli South Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Festus Utuama, has expressed shock over the death of Dr. Vwaere Diaso.

Dr. Diaso who hailed from Ewu Community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State was until her death on Tuesday, a medical officer with the General Hospital, Odan, Lagos Island.

She died from injuries sustained when an elevator she was in crashed and all efforts to resuscitate her failed as there was no blood available in the Lagos State health facility.

Utuama in a press statement issued on Thursday at Asaba described the incident as painful, unfortunate, sad and upsetting.

The lawmaker wondered why a medical doctor at this time that the country needed them most could die of negligence and lack of blood.

While appealing to the Lagos State Government to as a matter of urgency commence maintenance of the health facilities on the Island, Utuama called for in-depth investigation into the cause of death of the young Delta born medical doctor.

He commiserated with her family and colleagues, saying death is an inevitable end, and prayed God to give them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
