The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, congratulates the new Executive Governor of Delta State, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori as he mounts the saddle of leadership of the State.
We are particularly happy for this change of guard, in the sense that the cordial relationship those of us in the Media Constituency had enjoyed over the years with him, will continue unabated.
There is no doubt that the new Governor had been a media friendly personality and will continue to sustain that friendship no matter the circumstances of time.
Based on this understanding, it is hoped that the Media Constituency will benefit an Information Commissioner and a Chief Press Secretary that understand the nitigrity of journalism practice and media relations in Delta, thereby working in synergy with the leadership of the NUJ to upgrade the statuses of practitioners and not to suppress and gag them.
We are more hopeful that in times of mutual disputes within the information circle, which we don’t pray to arise, we will always have a listening Governor to attend to us. This is important, bearing in mind that the media is absolutely indispensable in every administration that tends to anchor its agenda on peace and tranquility for a prosperous State.
It is our prayer that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori will succeed in all his agenda to reposition Delta for greatness. We believe in your candour, capacity and often commitment to progress and well-being of people under and around you.
We will go on this journey smoothly with you. Kindly allow us the opportunity to ride with you on this road to progress.
As far as it is your desire to run an open door policy with dedication to honest and accountable governance, we assure to partner with you in the interest of growth and development of our dear State of Delta.
Once again, congratulations to you our dear dependable Governor. More grace as you carry on the task of administering Delta State for more developments.
