Oborevwori Presents Staff Of Office To Ikolo

.. Tells monarch to uphold virtues of justice, fair play

 

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori, Thursday, presented a staff of office to the Ovie of Ewu-Urhobo Kingdom, Ughelli South Local Government Area, HRM Clement Oghenerukevwe  Ikolo, Urhukpe I, telling the monarch to uphold the virtues of justice, fair play and equity in his dealings with his subjects

 

Presenting the staff of office to the traditional ruler, Oborevwori urged him  to improve on the sanctity of his exalted office by leading people to greater prosperity.

 

Represented at the ceremony by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, the Governor stressed the need for the monarch to encourage free flow of communication, dialogue and consultation with all segments of the kingdom.

 

Oborevwori said “On behalf of myself, the government and people of Delta State, I congratulate His Royal Majesty for the enviable calm that attended his ascension to the royal stool of his forebears. it is obvious that you are truly accepted by your people; endeavor to reciprocate their love.

 

“I am happy about the peace and love which was associated with all the procedures because they are all the stamp of authority and confidence imposed on him by the people of his kingdom which now include the Delta State Government.

 

“I also felicitate with the people of Ewu-Urhobo and everyone in the kingdom for their cooperation, love and contributions, which made today’s occasion a reality.

 

“Your Royal Majesty, I appeal to you to improve on the sanctity of your exalted office by leading your people to greater prosperity in an environment marked by peace, love, understanding and mutual respect between the throne and the people.

 

Continuing he said “I urge you to be open and accessible while upholding at all times, the virtues of justice, fair play and equity in all your dealings with your subjects. In everything you do and in every decision you take, I implore you to place the interest of the majority of your people and the fear of God, above other considerations.

 

“Let me reiterate that government will continue to rely on the leadership institution as a veritable medium of reaching the people. Please, ensure that you encourage free flow of communication, dialogue and consultation with all segments of your kingdom.

 

“The traditional institution is priceless in any African society, no viable alternative has been found, government will therefore continue to treat the traditional institution as a trustworthy partner in the social, economic and cultural spheres.”

 

Earlier in his address, The Chairman Ughelli South Local Government Area , Hon. Richard Kofi, appealed to the Delta State Governor to continue to remember Ughelli South Local Government Area in the development sharing of projects and amenities.

 

According to him,  “it is our sincere prayer and hope that the much desired development in our dear state as well as Ughelli South Local Government Area through your more agenda will be achieved as you settle down for governance within this tenure. On behalf of the good people of Ughelli South, I  wish to sincerely pledge our unflinching and unalloyed support for your administration.

 

“I wish to seize this opportunity to commend your Excellency the governor of Delta State because this is the second time you are coming to Ughelli South within your few months of your administration. ”

 

On his part, The President General in his welcome address stated “This kingdom is highly indebted to the immediate past Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Senator (Dr.) Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa for remembering the people of this land and embarking on the construction of the first ever bridge in Ewu-Urhobo. This bridge is now being constructed across the Orere river from Ewu-Otor to Orere Town.

 

“The present Monarch, Ovie Clement Ikolo the Urhukpe 1 and the entire people of Ewu- Kingdom respectfully implore your Excellency, the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon.(Elder Sheriff F.O. Oborevwori to complete this bridge that shall create the major way to into the hinterland of Ewu-Urhobo thereby enhancing the smooth evacuation of very useful agronomical raw materials into the urban cities of Delta State in particular and  Nigeria in general.

 

“This is an economy-boosting bridge sir. The people of Eghereka also humbly appeal to you sir to pay a particular and special attention to the construction of a very short 7 kilometer road that connects various agricultural communities within the Ewu-Urhobo Kingdom and other Ijaw communities. This is the Ebesegha-Assah-Omafuvwe-Etefe-Edjekuo-Orere-Isiepha road project.  Besides, His Royal Majesty Ajuwe Clement Ikolo and the good people of Ewu-Urhobo earnestly request that our Governor assist the Ewu-Urhobo Kingdom with a permanent palace that will serve as the center of authority and symbol of communal connectivity.”
