As Local Government Elections in Delta State approaches, Top Aspirant for the Ughelli North Local Government Council Chairmanship seat, Engr. Mathew Aghoghophia Onokpasa has said competence, capacity, and character are needed now more than ever to provide the much-needed boost for national development from the grassroot.
Engr. Mathew Onokpasa, stated that his impressive track record with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) speaks volumes about his dedication to public service. “My character, integrity and dedication to service makes me the ideal candidate to lead Ughelli North Local Government Council into a new era of growth and development.
According to him, My vision for Ughelli North LGA is one of progress, prosperity and inclusiveness. My candidacy represents a breath of fresh air and a beacon of hope for Ughelli North Local Government Council. I am poised to bring about positive change, foster inclusive governance and enhance the overall well being of the people I aim to serve. I recognise the urgent need for peace and security. Crime and insecurity must be quashed. I have come out with a master plan to restore tranquillity through strategic collaboration and innovative initiatives.
“With Me a seasoned Administrator with deep experience in a wide range of fields including: Engineering Construction, Financial Risk Management, Engineering Operations, Project Management, and Business Development spanning a period of over two decades in the financial, engineering, and construction industries at the helm, the people of Ughelli North LGA can be assured of a government that listens, acts and delivers.
“I spent over a decade with Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, working in various units and holding vital leadership roles. I have also served as Director of Originations at East Century Capital, an equity and capital company with head offices in Hong Kong. Currently, I am in Partnership with Development Derivatives Services, a Construction and Project Development consulting firm. These qualities will undoubtedly be instrumental in addressing the multifaceted issues facing the local government.”
The founder of Resetel Technologies, an innovative engineering solutions company, which focuses on the provision of smart homes in Nigeria and West Africa earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the Federal University of Technology, Akure, followed by a master’s in business administration (focus on banking and finance) from the ESUT Business School, Enugu State University of Technology, Enugu.
He also earned a master’s degree in Security, Conflict and Development from the Faculty of History and War Studies of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna. Matthew Onokpasa is currently a Public Governance and Leadership doctoral Student at the University of Abuja and also an Alumni of the Leadership Program of the School of Politics, Policy and Governance (SPPG), created by the Initiative.
Engr. Onokpasa holds various professional and honorary positions, testament to his intellectual curiosity and professional impact. He is a Fellow of both the American Academy of Project Management and the Institute of Management Consultants. He is also a certified management Consultant, and an Associate of the Society of Peace Studies and Practice (ASPSP). Onokpasa is certified by COREN and is a recognized member of the Nigeria Society of Engineers.
Engr. Onokpasa also sits on the Board of the African Center for Leadership and Environmental Sustainability (ACLES) and is a Global Advisor to the American Academy of Project Management. He is married to Princess Brigid and blessed with Children.
