Comrade Happy Igho Umukoro, Councillorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has said the party is ready to resist any attempt to rig or impose candidates on the people in the forthcoming Local Government elections in Delta.
According to him “we will resist it we will do everything to ensure that there is free and fair elections because that is what we believe in. The governor is a man who has enjoyed various political offices via elections if he was shortchanged during any of the elections can he emerge the governor of the state today? The answer is no so why must he influence a local government election that will usher in credible hands that can help him deliver the promises he made to Deltans?
“Ughelli North ward 14 electorates have been suffering from lack of good leaders they have been abandoned in the area of empowerment, dividends of democracy from the government, leaders, office holders those they have elected to represent them at the council. There are laws that ought to favour the people in terms of provision of water, health care system and infrastructures but these are the things that are lacking in my ward. I am out to liberate my people from this state of political decadence.
“I am very serious about this election I mean it when I say I am going to win the councillorship position come March 6, 2021 after that I am going to organize training for the women, set up skill acquisition centre for the teeming youths roaming around the streets. It does not take much to set up the centres, dig a bore hole in the community this I know is within the capacity of a council representative to do.
“Despite the fact that much money is not allocated to this tier of government there are still areas funds can be gotten from, like lobbying the council chairman to lobby for more constituency projects and funds from the state government.
“I appeal to the electorate to come out en-mass and vote APC, vote for credible candidate, sellabe candidate , a cadidate that can deliver on good governance, leadership progressives, promises that he has made.”
