Ahead of the 2023 general election, Dr Sylvester Onoyona the House of Representatives candidate for the All Progressive Congress (APC) for Isoko Federal Constituency along with his campaign organization and supporters stormed the palace of HRM Johnson Egbo, Ewhiri 11, the Ovie of Emede Kingdom for royal blessings.
Dr Onoyona told the Monarch that his mission to his palace is to formally inform him that he is contesting the forthcoming general elections for the position of House of Representatives for Isoko Federal Constituency and to solicit for his blessings and support.
In his address, the House of Representatives hopeful told His Royal Majesty and his council of Chiefs that his major concerns for Isoko nation is to represent them effectively, equitably and qualitatively and to agitate for more Constituencies for Isoko nation.
Dr Onoyona assured the monarch that, Emede Kingdom and Isoko nation, that outside his legislative duties, he will bring empowerments to the youths and women and be constantly holding town hall meetings with the constituents instead of some few leaders called godfathers.
He stated that his covenant for Isoko nation will be youth development, 200 small scale business creation scheme, free grant for women and business, free vocational training for business establishment, support local mobile healthcare services and also to attract federal project to Isoko nation.
He further stated that, since Isoko people have tried PDP for the past 24 years and has failed, Isoko should try APC this time around.
“We have been left behind in the scheme of things as an ethnic group, Isoko has delivered PDP for 24 years but there is nothing to show for it. Our roads are in deplorable conditions, he stated.
He admonished the people of Emede community and Isoko nation to look beyond political parties and vote for him during the general election come 2023.
Responding, the Ovie of Emede kingdom, HRM Johnson Egbo Ewhiri commended Dr Sylvester Onoyona for coming out boldly to contest for the position saying that his motive is good and that he has taken the right step in the right direction.
He appealed to Emede people to try every thing best possible to support Dr Sylvester Onoyona’s ambition charging everyone to get their voters cards in order to vote for the right candidate.
“There is no doubt that Isoko is suffering today and that is as a result of bad representatives from the Federal to the State.
“Let us support and vote for the right and credible candidates in Isoko both for House of Representatives, Assembly Senate and others”, HRM Johnson Egbo Ewhiri stated.
He prayed for the actualization of his House of Representatives ambition as he expressed optimism that if Dr Sylvester Onoyona elected the House of Representatives, Isoko nation would be better.
HRM Johnson Egbo Ewhiri prayed further for Dr Onoyona’s success, also called on all Isoko people to support him with a view to achieving positive change.
Chief Engr Eric Erute, the President General of Emede Community commended Dr Sylvester Onoyona for coming out to contest for the House of Representatives in the coming election.
He urged all Emede sons and daughters both at home and in diaspora to support and vote for Dr. Onoyona.
