The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Political Matters, Hon. Saturday Mofoye, has raised alarm over plans by some highly placed individuals in his Orhuwhorun community and within to allegedly rope him into a murder case and possibly kill him.
Mofoye in a signed press statement, called on the commissioner of police, Delta state to caution some of his men who are investigating the murder case not to be used by complainants to perpetrate evil.
Mofoye who is also the vice chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), stated in the statement that he has been inundated with reports and rumours of plans by some highly placed individuals within and outside Orhuwhorun town to falsely rope him into murder case where investigation is ongoing.
“It is public knowledge that some suspected criminals were recently paraded by the police at the Police Headquarters in Asaba, Delta State. The plans to rope me into the case is on top gear, as information at my disposal has it that those investigating the case has been allegedly bribed and/or compromised to use extra judicial means on the suspected criminals to falsely confess and mention my name.
“I verily believe that this may be connected with a legal battle, I had with one of the conspirators and perpetrators of the falsehood. Ordinarily, I would have ignored the perpetrators and conspirators of this falsehood but for the public to know the truth about their plans, I decided to cry out and bring their plans to the public glare.
As I am speaking with you, some persons whom the said perpetrators of this falsehood had cases in court and perceived enemies have been allegedly accused, arrested and are suffering in police custody across the country, even when the suspected criminals of the heinous crime have been paraded and didn’t mention their names.
“I am a well known politician and businessman and I have never at anytime been involved in any criminal activities and would not engage in such. I am a man who believes due process according to law. I engage in legal action to seek redress, not on trumped up charges against perceived enemies”, he added.
