DC-23 Constituted For Urhobo Interest Not An Individual – Akpowowo

Following a recent media attack on the leadership of Delta Central 2023 by some highly placed individuals in Delta Central Senatorial District that the group was constituted for the interest of an individual and to allegedly fight Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on politics of 2023, DC-23 has posited that there was no iota of truth in the purported allegations.

DC-23 in a press release signed by its National Publicity Secretary-Elect, Olorogun Arthur Akpowowo, said the press release was necessary because of misconceptions and assumptions by some highly placed individuals of Delta Central Senatorial District extraction that does not reflect the aspirations, aims and objectives of the group.

He explained in the statement that the highly placed individuals are illustrious sons of Urhobo nation and eminently qualified to contest for any position of their choice but should not work with assumptions but real facts.

According to him, “there was never a time or meeting where members of the group were forced to sign a constitution as alleged by some of our people.

“The group as constituted has no intention to fight anybody let alone our Governor, Senator (Dr.) Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa or his Government on politics of 2023.

“Being a pressure group, we are not the Party, neither are we taking the place of the Party. DC-23 is not set up to propagate any individual ambition but the collective ambition of the Urhobo people in Delta Central.

“This we intend to achieve through lobbying, engagement and building bridges of friendship within and across the entire State. Nobody or group of persons should try to pitch this group against the Governor or any institution and other stakeholders in the body politics of the State. Such will be exercise in futility and dead on arrival.

“We therefore, urge all and sundry who believes in the Delta Central project to come on board and contribute to the actualization of our peoples desire and aspirations in 2023”, it added.
