Delta Councillor Faces Recall Over Indefinite Suspension Without Salary

The Councillor representing Igbide DSIEC Ward 4 at the Isoko South Legislative Arm, Hon Silver Onuje Ewhese is set to be recalled from the council following his indefinite suspension without by the Legislative Arm.

Hon Ewhese was suspended over an alleged gross misconduct, abuse of office and other related offences. it was learned.

Following his suspension, a pressure group, Concerned Igbide Sons and Daughters for Good Governance, has pass a vote of no confidence on the councilor, Hon Silver Onuje Ewhese and seek his recall from the council for poor representation.

It would be recalled that on March 24, 2023, Hon Ewhese was suspended for alleged gross misconduct, and abuse of office along side others.

In a statement by the group who are his immediate constituent, “Concerned Igbide Sons & Daughters for Good Governance and the Igbide people seek the ‘Recall’ of Hon. Silver Onuje Ewhese with a vote of no confidence on his representation at Isoko South Local Government Council as a Councillor representing Igbide DSIEC Ward 04.

The statement signed by the convener, Grandball Joel and Godwin Emmanuel as secretary respectively, stated that, “In accordance with Part III; 40 (a) of the Delta State Local Government law 2013, which provided for the recall of a Councillor.

“Concerned Igbide Sons and Daughters for Good Governance and the Igbide people who signed this petition to seek the ‘Recall’ of Hon. Silver Onuje Ewhese with a vote of no confidence on his representation at Isoko South Local Government Council as a Councillor representing Igbide DSIEC Ward 04.

“On 24th March, 2023, the Isoko South Legislative Arm under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Arovah Othuke suspended Hon. Silver Onuje Ewhese and five other Councillors indefinitely for alileged gross misconduct and breach of oath of office without salary and any form of benefit.

“With his suspension, this leaves us with no representative at the Local Government Council and it is sad as his constituents explored the necessary process within the law for his replacement as over 25 percent of his constituents have willingly signed his recall petition”.
